Ugwu Aro was educated at Government College Umuahia and the University College, Ibadan (Nigerian College, Zaria campus).
He was a pupil and assistant engineer, Nigeria Railway Corporation; Reseller Engineer, Field Engineer, Operations Planning Manager, Shell; Managing Director, Shell Sierra Leone, Chairman, Shell in Sudan, Ethiopia, South Africa, Kenya and Mozambique; Managing Director, National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company Ltd and at present, the Executive Chairman of West Africa Bitumen Emulsion Co. Ltd (WABECO) and Safecon Sierra Leone Limited (former Shell Sierra Leone).
SIC, as he is fondly called, is a member of many organisations. He is married to Ngozi and they are blessed with children and grandchildren.
